:. GMOs *
I am a student at the University of Central Arkansas. I am interested in the ongoing topic of GMOs. The abbreviation "GMO" means genetically modified organism. GMOs are and have been an issue for some time now. Around six years Americans have been consuming GMOs. GMOs are very controversial because of the fear of the unknown side affects they might have on people. Many articles I have researched contain the good and bad about GMOs. The good include benefits such as making crops have longer fresh taste and easier shipping by the crops lasting longer. Some of the bad are things that are badly affecting Americans such as obesity because the FDA did not tell us about some of these GMOs being put into our food (http://www.relfe.com/GMOs.html). How does someone not need to know about what one eats? I think everyone deserves the right to know if GMOs are in their food because they could possibly be the source of obesity or diabetes. GMOs were also proven to reduce the life span of some animals, and increase allergies of some humans (http://www.relfe.com/GMOs.html) I want to know about others opinions on this matter! Please comment.

Dear Foodasaurus,
ReplyDeleteI really liked your blog. I'm glad you wrote about GMO's, because I definitely think it's something we should all be aware of.
"..because the FDA didn't tell us about the things in our food." This stood out to me because, i mean, how could they not tell us about something that's a potential threat! To me it shows that money is more of a concern to them than our health.
When you told us that these GMO's may be responsible for diabetes, obesity, and allergies, I was shocked. I have friends and family members who struggle with diabetes and allergies. Is that because of the GMO's that the government just didn't tell us about? Could that have been avoided if my friends knew about the GMO's? It's deinitely something to look in to.
I really enjoyed your blog! I liked how you gave us the positive and negative aspects of GMO's, and you were pretty informative. I also liked how you gave us the links to your sources. Thanks for posting!
Dear Foodasaurus,
ReplyDeleteI really agree with your blog. I think that it is crucial for people to know what they put in their bodies. Most of the time, people just eat stuff and they don't know what is in it or what it does to their bodies. GMO's are so unpredictably bad for us. Scientists just keep trying to get more and more out little to the point that I don't even know what is "original" or "orgainic" anymore. Anyway, thanks for all of your research and blogging.
